Pahlaj Nihalani Unveiled: Turns Distributor of Julie 2

Hypocrisy’ is the term that best suits the former Censor Board Chief Pahlaj Nihalani. The famed saying “Practice what you preach or change your speech” probably should be the one-liner for gentlemen like him. His professional tenure at the Central Board for Film Certification’s office (CBFC), speaks much about his way of umpiring the films, right from that of James Bond Daniel Craig kiss in front of the Indian audience to Anushka Sharma’s say of word ‘intercourse’ in Shah Rukh Khan’s recent film trailer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’.
However, with his exit from CBFC, Nihalani became the distributor and promoter of adult thriller movie- ‘Julie 2′ starring Raai Laxmiin the lead role, unveiling his image of being culturally upright person which he effectively portrayed during his occupancy as the Censor Board Chief. As per Times of India report, Nihalani said, “My business is movie, movie and movie’. So, whatever responsibility I had got as CBFC chief, I fulfilled it honestly,
with sincerity and effortlessly. Now I am the distributor of this movie… It’s a bold, beautiful and blessed movie. I am doing the marketing and distributing, which is my original business.” One should learn what professionalism and work ethics is, from this so called bloke.
While at one end, where we are trying to open up and discuss people like Nihalani, it is important to give a think through films that objectify women in all wrong ways in the appellation of masala content and script requirement. For instance, the official trailer of ‘Julie 2’ has created sensation among the viewers. Such films will pull in crowd merely for Raai Laxmi’s bold avatar rather than that for the story line, if guesstimated right. What do we convey here for the generations to come? Films play a major role in influencing people especially youths, both in right and the opposite term and this needs to be understood by the makers and team.
“Without content nothing sells, neither body or skin or Shah Rukh Khan”, as said by Nihalani, awaits some serious story peg worth watching in his upcoming movie Julie 2, releasing on October 6, 2017.
