Auto magazines and auto shows never seem to quench the thirst of all automotive fanatic people. Some crave for speed, some the outline, for some it is the Engine story, yet for others its the mere legacy- The Brand name.
Breaking all speed records has arrived The Koenigsegg Agera RS – a Swedish car. Beating the Ferraris and Lamgorginis, it has arrived with a speed of 447.3 kmph and 1341 horsepower. This world record was set in November 2017, on a closed dead straight highway outside LasVegas, keeping all Guinness parameters intact.
The test driver was Niklas Lilja. He clocked 436.5 kmph in its up-leg and 458 kmph in its return leg. The automotive world went crazy. This feat blew all other speed machines to Nevada’s desert dust. It smashed Bugatti Veyron super sport’s top speed record of 420 kmph. Hence currently Bugatti is testing its new car Chiron in Germany which has 1500 horsepower in order to win their place back as the manufacturer of the fastest car in the world.
The buying experience of an Agera RS is also an exclusive one. Here the special buyers are flown in from any part of the globe to their Swedish factory. Here the choices and preferences of the buyer are implemented and alterations suggested, if required. This is like personalizing the car to the moon. The paint options on the car is extremely unique. An Indo-American Investment banker from Florida, Kris Singh had his Agera RS painted with a coagulation of his choice of diamond dust and moon rock dust bought back by NASA.
This colour palette is a trademark belonging only to Kris and no other customer & is called Karosserie Lunar Red. Kris is the Managing Director of Tequesta Investment and an owner of other exotic cars like Pagani Huayra & Lamborgini Veneno,which confirms of him being a true petrol head.When questioned about his experience of ordering his Koenigsegg Agera, he said “I went to their factory in Sweden & test drove some of their cars.
Through my multiple visits to Sweden during the order and build process of the car, I have gotten to know many people there personally, including the owner Christian,his wife Halldora and their lovely children”.
Kris says that, what sets the Agera RS apart is its smoothness and precision inspite of its speed.Its engine is twinturbo charged V8 with eight cylinders delivering 1341 horsepower and 1011 pound feet of torque. The body is made of carbon fiber,aluminium,kevlar and has more power than 11 Toyota Prius.
The world’s only supersonic passenger aircraft The Concorde, reaches a speed of 362.1 kmph on ground just prior it taking off, while the Agera RS clocked an average speed of 447.3kmph in Nevada. Hence the Koenigsegg Agera RS crushed the speed record of not only the fastest production vehicle on the planet, it also was faster than the speed of the fastest passenger airliner Concorde just prior takeoff.
A Koenigsegg Agera RS would set you back by a mere Rs 12.7 Crores. Bargain isn’t it? But definitely ‘flying’ on the ground comes with its quota of risks. It’s Special aerodynamic design aides to streamline the air around the car in order to keep the four tyres planted on the road during high speeds.
Another challenge facing the driver, is the speed with which any ordinary objects approach, as he drives off into the wind. Explaining the same Kris said, “This car makes you to be a smarter person, because you have to learn to think quicker”. His advise to the driver of any Koenigsegg is to “Think before you can even believe”.
