Productiveness amidst Quarantine

The rapid increase in the number of Corona Positive cases in Tamil Nadu, has added another issue to the State Government. To control the rising cases of Corona, the State Government is strictly following the rules of the Lockdown, along with making other preparations so that control over these growing cases can be found.

In this series, The Government of Tamil Nadu is working on preventive measures in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Corporation Development for Women of the National Urban Livelihood Mission.  

Under this, The Chennai Metropolitan Corporation, along with the Self Help Group in which Women work, are making Masks and Sanitizers. Significantly, there are more than 100 such groups working in this project in Chennai.

Vasanthi Kumarasan, The  Nodal Officer of Chennai District, says that “Since the usage of plastic is been banned in Tamil Nadu, these cloth bags were first made with the help of these Self-Help Groups”.         

But ever since the outbreak of this Corona, We have been involved in the preparation of Masks and Sanitizers.

These Sanitizers are sent to the poor people with the help of the government. In addition, we also sell these Sanitizers to Private Institutions also. There are around 5000 Women involved in this service.

About 50 thousand Masks and 200 Liters of Sanitizer is prepared daily with the help of these women. The work had first started in Tamil Nadu under The National Urban Limited Mission, after which other states are following it too.

Not only this, the group of women associated with our organization are also working on the Container Plant, under which we are going door to door to investigate the Corona cases.
