With the demand to scale-up indigenous manufacture of medical equipment particularly ventilators and to cater to the urgent need of the equipment as propagated by the Prime Minister, young innovators across the country are attending to this call and doing the needful.

In this direction, a 24 year old, Chennai-based entrepreneur developed a compact ventilator in a short span of time to save human life from deadly Coronavirus or Covid-19.

Such work aims to meet the short supply of ventilators during emergencies that the country is presently facing in order to save human lives.

R. Abilash Chakaravarthy, special director for Projects, Ace group of Companies at ACE Robotics Pvt Ltd, Koyambedu, Chennai, plunged into manufacturing this compact ventilator with 3D printing prototype. The product is claimed to provide support to medical professional, hospitals in the Government as well as in private sector space.

The commercial production of this compact ventilator shall commence within days of getting the required approvals and calibration as required by the ICMR and other regulatory bodies of the State and Central Government.

This shall enable the community to tide over the crisis of Covid-19 and meet the shortage of ventilators in the country. The innovative ventilator shall also provide doctors and medical personnel a substitute and eliminate manual activation of Ball Valve Mask to provide ventilation support to patients.

The compact ventilator will have automated pumping action to support the patient without manual pumping of the ball valve mask and shall be of immense help and great relief to hospitals with the elimination of manual support to patients by healthcare professionals.

Moreover, this ventilator can also be modified and improved to cater to the existing ventilator specifications in both Invasive and Non Invasive process ventilations.

As part of social responsibility, R.Abilash Chakaravarthy and his innovative team are working to meet AC-CMV mode for invasive category of ventilation with graphical inter phase and display which shall incorporate the features of current high end models of ventilators and address the enhanced requirements for enabling ease of treatment of patients.

The commercial production of other models of ventilators for both invasive and non-invasive mode shall be ready for marketing and use in the near future.

Currently, this product is being developed taking into consideration cost of imported ventilators and offered at an affordable cost for midsized hospitals too taking into consideration the need and providing medical care equipment at fraction of a cost as compared to existing models in the market.

This type of innovative and timely production of medical care equipment by young entrepreneurs requires encouragement by the Government approving authorities and the medical fraternity which shall go a long way not only to save the precious lives of people but also serve the community at large.

In this regard, the efforts of R. Abilash Chakaravarthy and his team appeal and seeks the support of the government and its concerned authorities namely
