When the Indian PM Modi announced the 21 lockdown, people across the country were stunned for a moment, many at that time did not seem to grasp the full import of the announcement.

But with the passage of time the masses took up the 21 day lockdown with stoicity, many like 20 year old Adhira, a student of university college in Trivandrum, has pledged to help her mother in the daily chores, and has even learnt to cook.

For 12 year old Mohammed Anzal, the lockdown has meant more time to spend with his grandparents and learn the intricacies of gardening of which his grandpa is an expert, ‘Oh my goodness, never knew gardening was such fun, no more school for me, ‘ said the boisterous young chap, from downtown Vedivechankoil, a suburb of Thiruvanantapuram city.

The shortage of money in many ATMs has led the kirana shop keepers to resort to the digital transaction mode which also removed the problem of dealing with changes , ‘Aiyo, never knew digital payments were so easy, wish I had taken to it long ago, ‘ says Rajan, a petty provision store owner in Neyyatinkara, another suburban area of the city.

For many like pradosh a college student, the re-telecasting of classics like Ramayan and Mahabharata has rekindled in him the glory of ancient India and thought him to respect the heritage of the land of his birth.

The lack of the weekly market in many localities has made the households, which previously used to engage middle men to sell their Agri products, to sell their wares directly to the customers through the entrance of their humble homes..thus earning more income due to the removal of the meddlesome middlemen.

So there you are, the lockdown has not locked down the hopes and aspirations of the masses, rather it has made them more innovative in their dealings with life and their profession, as the saying goes, where there is hope there is way
