Chennai doctor does the nation proud

It is a proud moment for Chennai as one of its popular doctors made it to the international arena and got name and fame for this nation. 

According to sources, Dr. Vijay Viswanathan, well known diabetologist has been made president elect for D-Foot International. The general assembly of D-Foot International elected a new board for a term of two years under the chairmanship of Jose Luis Lazaro Martinez of Spain.

Dr. Vijay Viswanathan was made president elect, while Heidi Corcoran (Hong Kong), Zahid Miyan (Pakistan), Nina
Petrova (United Kingdom) and Gulapar Srisawasdi (Thailand) were made vice-presidents. 

Jose Luis Lazaro Martinez said since his appointment as president-elect last year, he has been working hand-in-hand with Kristien Van Acker, now immediate past-present, to prepare the transition to the new Board.

‘I am very pleased with the wealth of expertise and geographical balance of our new Board. We have another great governance team. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Board and all operational levels of our organisation to help firmly establish D-Foot International.’

Dr. Vijay is also the first Asian president-elect and has worked for 29 years in his mission to prevent amputation. He said he was honored to take on this crucial governance position. 

‘I thank the membership for their vote of confidence and their unanimous support. I look forward to help leading D-Foot alongside the president and the other members of the Board, focusing on our mission statement and what we want to achieve as an organisation.’ D-Foot International is a global network of dedicated diabetic footcare experts.
