While addressing the media on Sunday, the TN Education Minister, A.Sengottaiyan, said that the teachers invigilating for class 10 examinations from containment zones, will be provided with PPE kits.
This initiative will be taken in order to prioritize the safety of the teachers involved in containment zones. Earlier, the Minister has also mentioned about increasing the number of examination centers and minimizing the number of students per class in accordance with social distancing norms.
According to the minister, the government is planning to issue E-passes to students staying in other districts and states, and to one of their parents for accompanying them to the exam venue. Also, students residing in school hostels could be requested to return to their hostels in a prior manner. The rest of the measures are assured to be taken by the respective school management.
“We are working to ensure that the information regarding exam schedules reaches out to students staying in all regions. Student details will be collected from each district’s Chief Education Officer and measures are taken for their protection from the virus. The issue of transportation will also be soon sorted out,” said the Minister.
For the pupils residing in containment zones, arrangements might be made to write exams in those zones, instead of transporting them to other places and to avoid contact with other students. For those who could not write their exams due to certain difficult circumstances, the minister said that they’ll be taken under consideration for re-examination.
The final announcements regarding the details of the examination conduct are expected to be given by the Education Department after a discussion with the Tamilnadu Chief Minister.
