HCAS conducted Film editing webinar with Mr. V Don Bosco of Sundra Pandian film fame as host as students and faculties from Sri Lanka Kashmir besides students and professors of city colleges and HCAS took part. Mrs. Saranya Suresh Kumar HOD Visual communication introduced the guest and Dr. Ebiraj HOD Electronic Media co-ordinated as Mr. Ganesh HOD Journalism and others participated in this webinar It was covered live on Facebook also as it aroused good number of participants
Mr. V. Don Bosco was famous for films like Dharani Sundarapandian Kathirvelan Kadhal was a graphic designer before entering into editing went to work in TV serials as he got interested. He joined Pentasoft in 2012 worked for 4 years in Maya since 2003 as he completed BSc Visual Communication from Annamalai University. He got to work in Ist international Project and wen to become editor and worked in Sun TV serials till 2011 as Thangam Vamsam etc, He went to Singapore on a project and came back made films as Sundarapandian Dharani etc.
He got experience from Dharani and It is a good opportunity says, he. Editor has to understand 3 layered form of editing and not one large he says. It is a challenge and editing is like containing 3 subjects one has to know tools art work etc.
Editing is joining two stories or something like that or two sequences and it is digital now says he. There are two types of editing manual editing i.e. doing it manually and system editing is working on a computer to edit
There many software like FCP Avid Premier Cut Pro and Da Vinci and premier is easy to work One has to do color corrections also as well I worked in Mac Final cut Pro etc and it is easier. In Da Vinci you can do any type of editing like in one file and all options are available One can also do animation audio mixing etc also Davinci is the best and he explained how raw rushes or footage is converted to film or TV show for one and half hour of program 11 hours of rushes or footage might be used.
Editor sits with Director or co-director to select a shot or program many times and it is a very laborious process he said as there are work pressures in this field as in anything else. You get a complete picture of a movie or TV show including scripts before any deletion is made and it is the work of all Mr. Don Bosco said
