Rally to focus on veterans
S Vishnu Sharmaa, INN/Chennai, @Svs037Veterans in armed forces will be receiving the attention, thanks to Air Force Station at Tambaram in Chennai. Air Force Station at Tambaram will be conducting Armed Forces Veterans Day rally on 14 January, ex-service men from army navy and air force are invited to take part in that.
The main focus of the event will be on enhancing awareness on pension related issues, financial assistance, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.
Sources from Defence Ministry say Armed Forces have the largest number of pensioners, family pensioners in the country and this number is steadily increasing.
‘Armed Forces Veterans Day’ is a tri-services annual event held all over the country on 14 January every year. It is celebrated to recognise the contribution of veterans who served the nation in the prime of their lives and to remember those who laid down their lives to defend the country.
This occasion will be used to resolve issues faced by veterans and their next of kins. Grievances and issues projected by armed forces veterans and their dependents will be compiled and addressed at the rally. A large number of Armed Forces Veterans are expected to participate in the rally.
