Addressing the students further during the 15th convocation of SRMIST, he said the government does not tell what has to be done by ISRO, there are ambitious projects and scientists are there to make it happen. ‘Similarly, never wait for anyone to come and tell you what to do.’
When the sun comes up, you should be ready to run in order to survive in this world. Do not give up on your dreams. If India has to become the best country in the world, it needs all-round development and the primary focus is education.
A total of 9010 students were awarded undergraduate and doctoral degrees at the convocation. Medals were awarded to 113 candidates from the faculty of engineering and technology.
K.N. Vyas, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) stressed on harnessing alternative energy sources. We can focus on nuclear energy, it can be used as an alternative to solar energy. Our natural energy sources are depleting and thinking about other sources for deriving power is a good thing to do, he said.
He was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) (Honoris Causa) by Founder-Chancellor of SRMIST and Member of Parliament T.R. Paarivendhar.
