IIM (C) to launch executive programme in Communication Strategies

Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) is set to commence its Executive Programme in Communication Strategies for Corporate Leaders (EPCSCL) in January 2020. According to sources, the programme is said to be designed to meet the needs of corporate leaders. EPCSCL is a six month programme which will help participants assume leadership roles amidst diverse and complex corporate business scenarios.

The programme will be of a six month duration which will have integrated virtual and classroom sessions and is targeted at senior managers in organisations who are aiming to move towards executive leadership positions with more delegation and decision making authority. Working professionals wishing to take part in this programme must have a minimum experience of eight years.

Professor Apoorva Bharadwaj, programme director, EPCSCL, IIM-C said they intend to develop leaders through this programme who are capable of functionalising their business’s vision and mission through new strategic framework of communication. Those who take part in this programme will get to learn on making use of leadership as a strategy and not just as a medium of interaction. There will also be modules in cross-cultural communication to help global leaders manage cross-cultural diversity in trans-national organisations, she said.

This will enable the participants to be better orators, better strategists and conflict managers alongside nurturing their communication proficiency, said Professor Apoorva. Professor Pragyan Rath, programme director, EPCSCL, IIM-C said as a corporate business leader it is essential to communicate the purpose of the organisation to its internal and external stake holders. The right approach is essential when it comes to communication to take the business to next level.

Participants will be made ready to handle multifaceted aspects of corporate business communication through communication analytics, critical thinking, art of persuasion and negotiation, decision making and others.
