HCAS Celebration of Ethnic Day- the Muthamiz Vizha

HCAS celebrated the ethnic day and Muthamiz Vizha last September 26 in its campus at Padur and Ardhanariswaran, Faculty, Tamil Department, University of Madras was the Chief Guest.

The students and faculty dressed in Tamil ethnic dresses has shown the Tamil pride and culture. Muthamiz Vizha was seen in many contests and prizes were distributed to successful contestants.

The Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan in his address to students spoke of the importance of Tamil language and culture, stressed students welfare, steps in life and the way he became successful and the relevance of Tamil language to people. Mrs. Sakthi Prabha, HOD of Social Work and Dean of Students Council welcomed the gathering of students and staff.

In his special address to students and faculty, Dr. Ardhanariswaran spoke of Tamil being a special language and recalled his association to the Principal. He has successfully guided many PhDs and Mphil graduates and spoke of his role in Tamil Conferences organised during former CMs of MG Ramachandran and Jayalaitha regimes. He exhorted discipline in students and importance of language in it and said Tamil gave life to him.

He recalled his long association to Tamil student’s community as he has been a member of Board of Studies to several universities as 53 people got PhDs and 110 postgraduate degrees. He recalled Vairamuthu movie Tamil poet and script writer and his contribution to Tamil language and his association to him and stressed importance of development in language acquisition in one’s career and spoke how former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam and his contribution to languages and others wished success to students as he ended.

Mr. T Maharaja Pillai HOD of Language Dept. proposed vote of thanks to the management, Chief Guest Arthanarswaran, the Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan, the staff and students and non teaching staff for making this occasion a great success. This was followed by singing of National Anthem as the function came to a close.
