HCAS Celebrated Its College Day

The Hindustan College of Arts and Science organizes its 24th College Day grandly in its campus last Thursday the 21st of February. The affair was attended by the HGI Chair Person Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Director Dr. Susan Marthandon DD – Academics, Dr. VJ Philip and Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan as well as the staff and students who were present to witnessed the lavishly designed stage in an open area at HCAS premises. Mr. K. Saravanan, Malaysian Consulate General for South India was the Guest speaker together with the famous actor R. Sarath Kumar, the event’s special guest.
It started with one minute silent observed to Pulwama martyrs and prayer song while Dr. S. Thirumagan, the Principal welcomed the chief guest and other important visitors for the day’s affair.  He said, Mr. Saravanan is a great personality and Mr. Sarath Kumar is a handsome actor who played leading roles in many movies. And while speaking about the Chair person he said, she was the first women chancellor of a leading private university and Dr. Susan Marthandon was  a dynamic director of HCAS who also runs an ophthalmology clinic in Adyar and presented annual report for 2018-19.
The Chair person Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese gave presidential address welcoming Chief Guest and special guest of honor and said it is a great pleasure to be here and reminded of Silver jubilee coming in less than a year She said the principal Dr. S Thirumagan spoke of college achievements and praised the guests Mr. Saravanan and Sarath Kumar and explained unique location of college in ECR to them. She spoke on student discipline and said of lot of opportunities available to them and asked them to make use of it and it is time of introspection and she know of actor from Hindi Tamil and Malayalam movies and she likes him wished success to all as she ended.
Dr. Susan Marthandon while introducing Chief Guest and special guest said HCAS is growing from strength to strength.  She wished success to everyone to score well in exams Dr. Saravanan had impressive diplomatic career in Africa Netherlands and many higher posts in Malaysian ministry and said of Sarath Kumar’s films and his party All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi and said his daughter Varalaxmi was Microbiology student of HCAS and Mr. Sarath Kumar is a handsome man and was Mr. Chennai in a contest and said of Bruce Lee who was master of Martial arts and spoke of his achievement and asked everyone to be like him
And in his speech, the Chief Guest Mr. Saravanan, CG Malaysian Consul Chennai spoke good things about HCAS because he saw many achievements and told the students that they should consider visiting Malaysia for higher education which is very cheap and his office is willing to help them all. He even spoke of twinning program and spoke of subjects about medicine or MBBS and asked students to help their relatives and parents after completing course and said he is proud to be hear in a great college as HCAS
Mr. Sarath Kumar while delivering special address, he said, it is great to be here in HCAS on the 24th College day. He spoke of his acquaintance of HCAS family Dr. KCG Verghese and Dr. Susan whom he met at the Gym. He said of merit and performance as he is a Math graduate and opportunities don’t come easily and one should make use when it comes and that is how he became famous. He is 64 and said of responsible citizenship and told them how he started small and became big and said of responsibilities that comes along and said of discipline and working hard as he ended.
The students were given awards as the VP Mr. Samuel Sampath Kumar read out names of winners and Sirajudeen student council member proposed vote of thanks thanking every one and cultural followed. Â
