IIT-Hyderabad and C-MET to offer M.Tech programme

Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-Hyderabad) and Center for Materials for Electronic Technology (CMET) have plans to offer an M.Tech programme in designing state-of-the-art methods and equipment to handle e-waste recycling.
Both the organisations have recently signed a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) to design state-of-the-art methods and equipment to handle e-waste recycling recently. Through this collaboration both the institutions are planning to offer the post-graduate programme and also take a joint research.
MoU was signed on 9 December by Professor B.S.Murthy,director, IIT Hyderabad and N.R.Munirathnam, Director General, C-MET. Both the establishments will also encourage co-operation between research groups, researchers and institute staff and their exchange visits for teaching and research.

Professor B.S.Murthy said their establishment will in coordination with C-MET will develop cost-effective e-waste recycling techniques. This will also provide unique oppurtunities for young researchers to study at IIT-Hyderabad and work and C-MET. N.R.Munirathnam said teaming up with organisations like IIT-Hyderabad will help them in enhancing skill development in the field of e-waste management.

Both the organisations will also conduct joint courses, workshops and conferences in the field of e-waste management. Also, research scientists and staff at C-MET can pursue their doctoral degree at IIT-Hyderabad as external candidates or part-time doctoral students.
