Blood Donation Camp at VIT Chennai

VIT Chennai’s National Service Scheme and Health club jointly organised one day blood donation camp on 17-12-2018 at its premisesas a part of the 80th Birthday celebrations of Dr. G Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor,Vellore Institute of Technology.

The event was co-organized by the Blood Banks of Institute of Child Health and Hospital, Egmore and Kilpauk Medical College. The event was inaugurated by Dr. G Viswanathan, Founder & Chancellor, VIT in the presence of Thiru. G V Selvam, Vice President VIT Chennai, Dr. S. Aswin Kumar, Medical Officer, Institute of Child Health and Hospital, Egmore and Dr.Chitra, Medical Officer, Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai.

The event commenced at 10:00 am and ended at 4:00 pm. A team of 6 doctors checked the fitness of the donors and 30 blood bank officials collected blood. A total of 300 donors voluntarily donated blood for the noble cause of saving lives. Faculty, staff members and students of VIT Chennai actively participated in this camp.

The response to the camp was over whelming .The NSS Program Co-ordinator Dr. K Karunamurthy, and NSS Program Officers Prof. K Karthikeyan, Dr. K Suganthi and Dr.Balamurugan and Health Club Co-ordinator Dr.V Vijayalakshmi,felt that this event could be a regular feature of their agenda of future activities.
