The 30th GISFI Standardisation Series Meeting and IEEE 5G Summit at SRM University

The students and teachers at SRM University, Chennai organised the Global ICT Standardization Forum for India (GISFI) series meeting jointly with IEEE 5G Summit to provide a platform for industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment in the country. Prof. Ramjee Prasad, GISFI President, Aarhus University, Denmark was present at the event with Dr. M.S.Vasanthi / Dept of TCE and Dr.Sandeep Kumar P / Dept of ECE.

The formation of Global ICT Standardization Forum for India (GISFI) is an international body which aims to harmonize the standardization efforts within the Indian market and work in close cooperation with all standardization bodies. This results in improved competitiveness within companies and creates conducive investor-friendly environment. GISFI will provide a platform for discussion where issues related to standardization will be deliberated, information exchanged and knowledge shared. GISFI on reaching consensus among other bodies will appropriately frame the draft standards under the term “GISFI- Standard” and then forward to the appropriate body for acceptance.

Dr.Ramjee Prasad, GISFI president delivered the presidential address. Dr.DamodarAcharya, Director IIT Kharagpur and Dr.Anand R Prasad, NEC Japan was the guest of honour. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CTIF Global Capsule (CGC), Aarhus University, Herning, Denmark and SRM University, Kattankulathur, Chennai, India which aims to strengthen mutual goals regarding academic opportunities for students and faculty, was signed. The next day event started with a talk by Dr.Radhakrishna. G, IIT Madras followed by a special session with eminent speakers focussing on 5G Spectrum, Green ICT, Future Radio Networks, Special Interest Group, Internet of Things and Cloud service oriented Networks.

The invited talks and participants of the technical paper presentation sessions deliberated on a wide range of topics which includes Algorithms and 5G Networks, Spectrum and 5G Optical Communications, Security and Privacy aspects for 5G networks, Antennas and RF Communications, MIMO Communications, D2D and M2M Communications,  Context-Aware communications and IoT.
