The event is set to receive global attention as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurate Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France. The initiative is expected to strengthen international collaboration in innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and emerging technologies.

The Ministry of Education also released key strategic documents outlining India’s innovation roadmap, reinforcing the country’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing startup hubs.

ONDC and DPIIT Join Hands to Digitise 1.4 Crore Kirana Stores

In a major boost to India’s retail sector, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) brought leading FMCG companies together to promote digital procurement through DigiDukaan.

The initiative aims to empower India’s 1.4 crore kirana stores by improving access to digital supply chains, streamlining procurement processes, and increasing operational efficiency.

Experts believe the move could significantly accelerate digital commerce adoption among small retailers and strengthen India’s retail ecosystem.

Renewable Energy Receives Fresh Momentum

India’s clean energy ambitions received a boost with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announcing the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa.

The conference will focus on accelerating wind energy deployment, attracting investments, fostering innovation, and supporting India’s renewable energy targets.

As the country advances toward its net-zero commitments, wind energy remains a critical pillar of India’s sustainable growth strategy.

Additionally, a two-day seminar on defence procurement and innovation concluded in New Delhi, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to discuss future defence technologies and procurement reforms.

These initiatives align with India’s broader vision of achieving self-reliance in defence production under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework.
