Chennai Central turns busy, host of activities held

Host of activities marked the second day of special cleanliness drive taken by Southern Railway as part of Swachhta Pakhwara 2019.
Chennai Central railway station turned centre of activity on the second day of the drive held on September 17. Addtional general manager of Southern
Railway P K Mishra administered a pledge to keep India plastic free to railway officials and conservancy staff.
Mishra visited the exhibition put up at Dr MGR Central to educate rail users about plastic waste and alternatives for single-use plastics. He interacted with the housekeeping staff and impressed upon them the need to maintain Cleanliness at Railway premises.
Later in the morning, AGM inspected the catering units at at the station and took stock of the alternatives used for single-use plastics. He interacted with the catering staff and enlightened the need to phase out single-use plastics from railway stations.
He appealed to passengers to join hands with Railways and extend their support for plastic-free Railways.
