Because of the commotion over several topics, both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned till Monday. The Lok Sabha was postponed amid raucous outbursts by the opposition over comments made by members against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, while the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) had to be adjourned following a commotion over the cash dispute.

When the chair of the Upper House announced the finding of a bundle of Indian rupees, the cash row broke out. A wad of Indian cash notes was discovered on Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s seat number 222, the House’s chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, reported to the assembly. In this context, the chair has requested an investigation. In response to the announcement, Congressman and opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the name should not be revealed until the probe is complete. Later, the entire incident was criticised by the Congress MP who was concerned.

In response to the monetary dispute, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that he concurs with the Chairman’s assessment that a thorough investigation is necessary and that the Members’ worries are also quite legitimate. “There should be no objection to it,” he remarked. The same opinions were expressed by Union Minister and House Leader JP Nadda, who stated that everyone should denounce the incident since it is unprecedented. He claimed that such occurrences diminish the Upper House’s honour.

When the Lower House (Lok Sabha) reconvened at noon following its initial postponement, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey reiterated his accusations from Thursday that the Congress, a foreign media outlet, and a US-based investor are attempting to sabotage India’s success narrative. Dubey’s accusations against Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, and other Congress leaders caused a stir among opposition members who were led by the Congress. The House was adjourned for the day by the Presiding Officer.
