Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said here on Thursday, “I am totally upset at the most unfortunate incident that took place on Wednesday at the world famous pilgrim center and I am deeply depressed on hearing about the death of pilgrims.” He also said that he is giving officials clear instructions to take action to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

Chandrababu Naidu made it clear to the media after touring the scene of the accident and seeing the injured receiving treatment at SVIMS and Padmavathi Hospital that it is his bounden responsibility as the State’s chief minister and a devotee of Lord Venkateswara to preserve Tirumala’s sanctity. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to make sure that the injured in the tragedy receive the best care available and ordered a judicial investigation into the entire situation.

The Chief Minister insisted that he is extremely saddened by the terrible event that occurred on Tirumala Hills and that the stampede claimed the lives of six people. According to  Chandrababu, he prays to the Lord that the souls of Lavanya, Rajani and Santhi from Visakhapatnam, Naidubabu from Narsipatnam, Nirfmala from Coimbatore, and Mallica from Methusalem rest in peace. He claimed that one member of each family will be offered a contract employment and that the kin of the deceased would receive Rs 25 lakh each.

According to Chandrababu, individuals who were gravely hurt in the stampede will receive Rs 5 lakh each, and the government will cover their medical costs. He also mentioned that 33 more people were hurt in the incident and would receive Rs 2 lakh each as ex gratia. The Chief Minister further clarified that on the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi, everyone hurt in the tragedy on Wednesday would receive free darshan of the Lord. According to him, they would also be given transportation costs to get to their homes following the darshan.

The Chief Minister stated that he was completely shocked to hear about the incident while returning home from the Prime Minister’s program in Visakhapatnam. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for the Rs 2.8 lakh cr development project. Chandrababu stated that such unclean acts should not occur in the divine presence of Lord Venkatewara and that it is his bounden responsibility as the Chief Minister and a devotee of Lord Venkateswra to preserve the sanctity of Tirumala.

“In order to preserve the holiness of this location, we have made some decisions. “Our actions should not compromise the sanctity of the Lord, and whether we make a mistake intentionally or unintentionally, it is still a mistake,” Chandrababu said. Muslims travel to Mecca, Christians travel to Jerusalem, while Hindus frequently visit the Tirumala Hills. According to him, every Hindu believes that they should get the Lord’s darshan at least once in their lifetime on Vikunta Ekadasi day.

The Chief Minister claimed that the pilgrims were upset with the token system, which was implemented by the previous administration along with a 10-day extension of the Vikunta Darshan. He stated that customs should not be broken in accordance with Agama Sastra’s rules and made it apparent that action will be taken shortly to ensure that all temples in the state adhere to the customs.

According to the Chief Minister, officials ought to be more watchful in these situations, yet some policemen seem to be acting quite carelessly. “We are suspending Harinath Reddy, the director of the Gosala, and Ramana Kumar, the DSP. The Chief Security Officer, Sridhar, the Joint Executive Officer (JEO), Gowtham, and the Superintendent of Police, Subbarayudu, are all being moved. Chandrababu Naidu declared, “We are ordering a judicial inquiry into the whole incident.” He believed that the TTD Trust Board Chairman, the members other than the JEO, and all of the authorities should work closely together.

Chandrababu expressed regret over the numerous atrocities that have occurred on the Tirumala Hills over the last five years and stated that he does not wish to discuss politics at this time. Chandrababu Naidu declared that a decision regarding Vikunta Ekadasi tickets would be made shortly. “When I visit Tirumala, I always feel that I am just an ordinary devotee of the Lord, whether I am in power or not,” he remarked.
