With crushing victories to start the hockey season, Trichy and Thiruvallur

With resounding wins over their respective opponents, the districts of Trichy, Thiruvallur, and Tiruppur demonstrated their dominance on Saturday at the CM Trophy 2024 hockey match held at the MRK stadium.

The CM Trophy 2024 got underway with a bang, with Trichy crushing Kallakurichi 13-0, Tiruppur defeating Thirupathur 11-0, and Thiruvallur defeating Krishnagiri by the same margin.

Over 33,000 competitors from 38 districts will compete in 36 athletic events across five categories: school, college students, public, government personnel, and differently abled individuals.

Hockey, football, and badminton competitions took place on the first day, and the pre-event favourites performed as expected.

In football, Trichirappalli defeated Villupuram 5-1, while Kanchipuram district crushed Kallakurichi 7-0. Silambam, a traditional Martial Arts form that originated in Tamil Nadu, will have competitions starting on Sunday.
