S Rly RPF team proves its mettle on sporting arena
Titles won in athletics championship

Railway Protection Force (RPF) team of Southern Railway has once again stood upto the expectations proving itself in athletics. RPF athletic team comprising 46 athletes including 16 women won the overall championship trophy in the All India Inter-Railway RPF Athletic Championships 2018 held at Chatrapati Sivaji Maharaj Stadium, Jalgaon (Maharastra).
The championship was held from 29 to 31 October. Senthil Kumar, Constable/RPF won the first place in 800 meters running event. Another RPF constable Vipin Kumar bagged the first place in 5000 meters marathon. In women’s category, Renuka, also a constable with RPF won the top slot in 800m running event while in 400 meters Lijisha, another woman constable with RPF bagged the first place in the individual championship events.
Also, Southern Railway teams bagged the first place in 400 meters hurdle and 400 meters relay (men and women). In all, Southern Railway RPF Athletic team bagged 25 Gold medals, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals with an total tally of 50 medals.
Central Railway RPF team won the runners up trophy with a total of 34 medals. Southern Railway sports personnel have been showcasing outstanding performance in various inter-railway, national and international sports event.
