Gone are the days where train travellers had to wait for unreserved tickets in long ques. The mobile app for booking UTS ticket which is predominantly in use in Southern Railway is now to become a pan India with its launch across all zones of Indian Railways from November 1.
The travelling public are requested to make use of the improved facility for making their travel experience simpler and easier.
Railways has taken one more step in digitalisation of ticketing services. Users of UTS on Mobile App can now book paperless mobile ticket from any station on Southern Railway to any station across Indian Railways from November 1.
Earlier, there was a restriction on booking paperless tickets to destinations outside the Southern Railway. With the launch across the country, the restriction will be done away.
Now paperless or printout type tickets can be booked when a traveller is at any location within five kms of the originating station right up to the station concourse (about 25 mts from the platform/train).
On the concourse/booking office area also using the QR code scanning method, paperless UTS tickets can be booked if the passenger is in any suburban station. The QR code for each station is pasted on a poster displayed at all booking offices in Chennai suburban area.
