Mela Ground at Race Course Road in Gwalior will be the centre of attraction very soon, thanks to Gwalior Trade Fair. While the fair would take place from last week of December this year till January next year, there is a good deal of history to its credit.
Gwalior Fair was started by Maharaja Madhav Rao Scindia in 1905 and now it has won the recognition of being the largest trade fair of Asia. The mega-event being organised by Gwalior Trade Fair Authority (GTFA), a nodal agency of Government of Madhya Pradesh is a unique blend of culture, business and entertainment.
The fair is spread over an area of 100 acres and will have over 3000 kiosks and over 1000 permanent booths. Be it clothes, electric appliances or pottery or cattle, trade fair is the ideal place to purchase them.
There is something for children too. While shopping is for the elders to do, children can have joyful time in the gaint wheels, high-swing boats and much more. That’s not all, there is another point to it. ‘Hasya kavi Sammelan’ is an integral part of the fair, which gives a perfect flair of poetry.
Shilp Bazaar is an ideal venue for buying hand-made items. Wide variety of hand-made items coming from across the country are put for sale here. The fair is also famous for hosting ‘cattle fair,’ it is here that more than 10,000 animals are said to change hands. With these many specialties to it, Gwalior Trade Fair is an event one should never miss.
