The Chief District Officer of Banke Khagendra Prasad Rijal received a shipment of emergency supplies for families impacted by the recent floods and landslides in Nepal in Kathmandu. The shipment was made from the people of India to the people of Nepal.
A shipment of 4.2 tonnes of relief supplies, including water bottles, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, and blankets, was shipped from India to Nepalgunj. In addition, the Indian government is organising the delivery of more relief supplies, medications, and other necessities for cleanliness that will arrive shortly.
To aid the victims of the recent floods and landslides in Nepal, India’s Public Sector Hydropower Development Companies SJVN and NHPC, together with India-affiliated businesses like LIC Nepal Ltd, Nepal SBI Bank Ltd, and the Oriental Insurance Company Ltd, made contributions to the PM Disaster Relief Fund.
India is still the first country to respond to emergencies both inside and outside of its borders. The Indian government was the first to respond to the 2015 Nepal earthquake and launched Operation Maitri, the country’s largest disaster assistance effort outside of India. India contributed relief supplies following the November 2023 earthquake in Jajarkot.
