Today is the seventh day of Nepal’s 10-day Dashain celebration, which is marked by the Phulpati ceremony. The largest celebration in Nepal is Dashain, which is marked by family get-togethers, traditional celebrations, and intense fervour on the day of Phulpati. People also give sacrifices at temples and decorate their homes with various holy plants and flowers.

As part of the festival, an assortment of items like as sugarcane, turmeric, ginger saplings, belpatra, delicacies, flowers, and fruits are called phalpati. These items are anointed and carried into homes and shakti temples on banana leaves. Phulpati is widely celebrated by both the State and the general public.

President Ramchandra Paudel, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Nepali Army, was the Chief Guest at a Phulpati badhai event held by the State at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. The Nepal Army observes a special festival called Phulpati Badhai in observance of religion, culture, and custom.

With an Army parade, panchebaja band, and Army music band, a palanquin carrying barley shoots known as Jamara and Phulpati is delivered from Gorkha into Hanumandhoka Durbar in Kathmandu.

The unique custom of bringing Phulpati to Hanumandhoka dates back to the reign of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the King of Gorkha, and is still observed today. Gorkha is located 166 km distant from Kathmandu.
