External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar co-chairs the fourth India-Bahrain High Joint Commission meeting

Today in Manama, the 4th meeting of the India-Bahrain High Joint Commission was co-chaired by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. In his introductory remarks, Dr. Jaishankar emphasised the growing range of India-Bahrain collaboration, which includes investment, trade, maritime security, and defence.

He emphasised the longstanding and profound connections between Bahraini and Indian societies, which are fuelled by their common dedication to development, peace, and security. He reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Bahrain by saying, “We see great potential in areas such as space, education, science, and technology.”

The recent addition of India to the Manama-based Combined Maritime Forces was hailed by EAM as a step in the direction of enhancing maritime security in the region.The minister highlighted fresh prospects in the fields of research, technology, education, and space. He expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s handling of the Indian diaspora, which he regarded as a crucial bridge between the two countries, and invited Bahraini investors to investigate potential in India.

Dr. Jaishankar conveyed gratitude for the care and welfare provided to the Indian community in Bahrain, which he referred to as a “bridge” between the two countries, and praised Bahrain’s support for India in regional and multilateral forums.

Reiterating India’s strong position against terrorism and its adherence to international humanitarian law, the minister touched on regional problems while discussing the ongoing situation in Gaza. He demanded the prompt delivery of humanitarian relief, the liberation of hostages, and an early ceasefire.

Dr. Jaishankar acknowledged Bahrain’s commitment in pursuing regional peace and stability and reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian problem.Building on their longstanding relationship and common goal for regional security and development, the bilateral summit seeks to examine and deepen India-Bahrain’s comprehensive cooperation.
