The Nepali Kaski Court authorises Lamichhane’s continued seven-day detention

Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the former deputy prime minister of Nepal, has been granted permission by the Kaski District Court to remain in custody for an additional seven days in order to conduct an inquiry. He was taken into custody on suspicion of embezzling the savings of the cooperative.
The bench of District Court Judge Chandrakant Paudel has permitted the police to hold President Lamichhane in police custody for an additional seven days in order to conduct an investigation, according to Suraj Adhikari, Information Officer of District Court Kaski.
In connection with the investigation, Lamichhane was taken into custody on October 18. Likewise, Chabilal Joshi, the former Deputy Inspector General who was arrested in the same case, has been held for an additional seven days.
