Commerce Minister Leads High-Stakes Business Discussions in Saudi Arabia, Inaugurates Diwali Festival

Through a number of high-level meetings and cultural exchanges, Indian Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal began a comprehensive diplomatic mission in Riyadh today, signalling important advancements in Indo-Saudi relations.
Minister Goyal’s participation in a panel discussion at the Future Investment Summit kicked off the day. This was followed by the opening of ‘Lulu Wali Diwali’ at the Lulu Hypermarket in Riyadh, which highlighted the strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
Minister Goyal met with General Atlantic Chairman and CEO William E. Ford in a series of business meetings to discuss potential partnerships in India’s healthcare industry, namely in consumer-focused health businesses. The possible growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India’s many sectors was another topic of discussion.
The topic of a follow-up discussion with Peter Herweck, CEO of Schneider Electric, was how to harness India’s talent pool to develop sustainable energy solutions. The international energy management and digital automation corporation talked about its aspirations to use high-tech, energy-efficient solutions to increase its footprint in India.
One of the key meetings on the ministerial agenda is the Strategic Partnerships Council, where the Saudi Energy Minister will co-chair the meeting on the Economy and Investment Pillar. There will be bilateral talks with Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih and Saudi Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar Al Khorayef.Community engagements and the Pravasi Parichay closing ceremony will round up the day’s events, strengthening the diplomatic and cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and India.
