Under the auspices of the UN Interim Security Forces for Abyei, Indian Army troops made a tremendous humanitarian effort by setting up a medical and veterinary camp for the underprivileged residents of Rumajak village in Abyei. Colonel Kalicharan Gopalan, Contingent Commander, opened the camp, and nine other notable Abyei tribal chiefs, as well as the ministers of health, education, and law, as well as the Paramount Chief, were among the important dignitaries in attendance.

42 livestock received veterinary care at the camp, while 244 medically afflicted persons received much-needed medical attention. This program is a part of the Indian Army’s continuous effort to provide healthcare and humanitarian help to nearby communities.

The people in the area were quite appreciative of the event, and many expressed their gratitude for the veterinary treatment and much-needed healthcare. The Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Rumajak and Abyei was also praised by the dignitaries in attendance.

Along with providing for urgent medical and veterinary requirements, the camp strengthened the ties of goodwill and collaboration between the Indian peacekeeping detachment and the local populace. This endeavour by the Indian Army continues to build trust and goodwill among the people of Abyei and is a monument to their constant dedication to humanitarian service in conflict-affected areas.
