Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has been allowed to remain in the custody of the Kaski Police for an additional 15 days by the Kaski District Court in the Gandaki Province of Nepal.

Lamichhane is being held by the Kaski police in connection with an organised crime and cooperative fraud case. He appeared in Kaski District Court today, and an additional 15 days of custody and inquiry were authorised.

He was taken before the court today after the Kaski District Court granted the police permission to hold him for 13 days earlier on November 10; the deadline passed on Friday. Prior to this, on October 24, the Rupandehi District Court allowed Lamichhane to be arrested in order to investigate a case involving organised crime.

On November 18, the Kathmandu District Court also issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane in order to conduct an investigation. On October 18, Lamichhane, the former home minister, was taken into jail by the police while the investigation was underway.
