185 imprisoned fishermen have been fully repatriated by Bangladesh and India

185 fishermen who had been held were repatriated reciprocally by India and Bangladesh on Sunday. Around midday, the reciprocal repatriation process for 95 Indian fishermen captured in Bangladesh and 90 Bangladeshi fishermen detained in India got underway close to the Bay of Bengal’s International Maritime Boundary Line.

The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued a press release stating that 90 Bangladeshi fisherman were turned over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard, while 95 Indian fishermen were accepted by the Indian Coast Guard. Additionally, six Indian fishing boats that were held in Bangladesh and two Bangladeshi fishing boats that were detained in India were traded.

According to the announcement, the two nations’ Coast Guards carried out the handover procedure while other Ministries were present. For over two months, the 95 Indian fishermen were detained in Bangladeshi prisons.
