World Chefs Day was observed at SRMIST, Kattankulathur

World Chefs Day was recently observed by SRM Institute of Hotel Management at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur. In observance of World Chefs Day, which is celebrated on October 20th every year, this distinguished event gathered together renowned chefs from all over the world to celebrate the critical role chefs play in developing culinary traditions, encouraging healthy eating, and fostering cross-cultural contact.

Chef Pham Van Hoang, a well-known culinary artist with experience in international sculptural cooperation and training around Japan, Korea, Italy, and Australia, was the event’s keynote guest. During a live demonstration and workshop, Chef Hoang provided students with invaluable insights into international culinary trends. By participating in the showcase, students from different colleges were able to expand their culinary arts knowledge and talents.

In keeping with tradition, the occasion included a Fruit Mixing Ceremony, which kicks off Christmas preparations by combining fruits, nuts, and spices soaked in alcohol. Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar, Director of SRM IHM, and Registrar Dr. S. Ponnusamy of SRMIST graced the ceremony as eminent chefs from the South India Chefs Association (SICA). At the function, Dr. Ponnusamy, Dr. Ashok Kumar, and Chef Pham Van Hoang were recognised by the SICA board members for their noteworthy contributions to the food industry.
