Union Minister Manohar Lal Kattar Examines Tamil Nadu Power Projects

Manohar Lal Kattar, the Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs, and Power, held a review meeting today in Chennai to evaluate the status of important power projects in Tamil Nadu. Senior authorities including Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V. Senthilbalaji were present.
The discussion focused on major projects, including:
– 1X800 MW North Chennai Thermal Power Project – Stage III
– 2X660 MW Udangudi Thermal Power Project – Stage I
– 2X660 MW Ennore SEZ Project
– 1X600 MW Ennore Super Critical Expansion Project
To cut down on power losses, Rs. 8,932 crore worth of work is being done under the Enhanced Power Distribution Scheme. Officials were asked by the ministers to move these initiatives along quickly.
Noting that there had been no power outages in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, or the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the last two days, the minister commended the state’s energy initiatives. To increase access to free electricity, he also urged people to sign up for the PM’s Free Solar Rooftop Scheme. The minister presented government plans to increase capacity and lessen dependency on traditional sources, with a focus on renewable energy.
