The Mysore Lokayukta called for Siddaramaiah to address the Mysuru Urban Development Authority

On Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the Mysore Lokayukta had called him to discuss the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). “Yes, Mysore Lokayukta has issued a notice regarding MUDA,” CM Siddaramaiah responded when questioned by the media. On November 6, I’ll travel to Mysore Lokayukta.
Following a court order on September 27 to file a formal complaint, the Mysuru Lokayukta formally began an inquiry and investigation into the case. MUDA instructed the Lokayukta to look into claims of irregularities in the distribution of 14 sites valued at Rs 56 crore to Parvathi, Siddaramaiah’s wife.
14 sites in a desirable area of Mysuru city are allegedly unlawfully assigned by MUDA to the wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. In a recent money laundering case involving MUDA in Karnataka, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched over six locations in Mangalore, Bengaluru, Mandya, and Mysuru on October 28.
The action was taken a week after the agency had called six workers from Karnataka’s Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to come in for interrogation. The employees were called for the interrogation, which will take place at the ED’s zonal office in Bengaluru, on various dates in relation to the well-known alleged scheme.
Additionally, Siddaramaiah and others were charged with money laundering by the ED. A First Information Report (FIR) about the MUDA from the state Lokayukta sparked the case and put the Congress leader in a challenging position.
The FIR names his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, his wife BM Parvathi, Siddaramaiah, and Devaraju, from whom Swamy purchased land that was then given to Parvathi.
In its case, the ED has used provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which allow the agency to examine people and even seize assets while conducting an investigation.
Siddaramaiah has continuously refuted the accusations, saying he is being persecuted for his political beliefs. Supported by his party officials, Siddaramaiah has declared that he will not step down, even though the BJP has been urging him to step down as prime minister.
Following the claims, the BJP called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation and accused the Congress of backing “corrupt” leaders. However, Siddaramiah has rejected all calls for his resignation.
