At a special occasion in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha Chief Minister Sri Mohan Charan Majhi today distributed ₹ 5,000 apiece into the bank accounts of about 35 lakh women as the second part of the first instalment money transfer under the Subhadra Yojana.
Prior to the Assembly Election of 2024, the BJP included an ambitious plan for women’s empowerment in its election program. On September 17, this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his birthday in Bhubaneswar by launching the Subhadra initiative following the state’s establishment of government. On that day, almost 25 lakh women received ₹ 5,000 in their bank accounts.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Sri Mohan Charan Majhi stated that his government is keeping all of the election-related commitments it made. Referring to the Subhadra Yojana as the state’s greatest program, he claimed that under the two-engine administration, the people of the state receive double the advantages. He continued, saying that 60 lakh people had received financial help totalling ₹ 3,000 crore throughout the course of both stages.
It should be mentioned that each recipient of the program would receive ₹ 10,000 year in two installments of ₹ 5,000 each, for five years, one on Rakhi Purnima and the other on International Women’s Day (March 8). In five years, they will receive Rs 50,000 as part of the Subhadra Yojana.
Attending the occasion were numerous state cabinet members, MPs, MLAs, and deputy chief minister Pravati Parida.
