Mahalaya is where the celebrations for Durga Puja begin

All have been wished Mahalayan felicitations by Central Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The minister stated that Durga puja celebrations commence in Mahalaya on his arrival in Kolkata today. Speaking with the media at the Kolkata Airport, he stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to see West Bengal’s railway projects move forward steadily and to accommodate more passengers on suburban trains. The local trains now have twelve carriages instead of the previous nine. He added that today will mark the opening of one of these local trains in the Eastern Railway’s Sealdah Division. Regarding the RG Kar case, he stated that he hopes to see justice served for the trainee doctor who was raped and killed on the auspicious day of Mahalaya.

The West Bengal Braithwaite Rail Waggon manufacturing plant was visited by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Together with Dr. Sukant Majumdar, the Union Minister of State for Education, he took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. They carried a broom and spearheaded the campaign. On Gandhi Jayanti, the Railway Minister honoured the occasion. He also emphasised Braithwaite’s important role in the advancement of railroads. The Minister also commended the speed at which the metro rail projects in Kolkata were moving forward; under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction, projects that were shelved during the Congress administration have been brought to fruition in the last ten years.

The city’s Gandhi Bhawan Museum was also visited by the Union Minister. In an attempt to ease communal tensions, Mahatma Gandhi spent a few weeks in 1947 in Gandhi Bhawan, a home in Beleghata, Kolkata. In addition to honouring the Father of the Nation, Ashwini Vaishaw emphasised the relevance of Gandhiji’s ideas in the context of contemporary India.

The West Bengal government was severely criticised by the railway minister for their lack of cooperation in carrying out railway projects throughout Bengal. He claimed that although the state government’s lack of cooperation prevented the Central Government from sanctioning 61 projects in Bengal. In addition, he stated that if the state government helps, Indian Railways is prepared to invest 60,000 crores in West Bengal. He was present today to officially launch a number of West Bengal Railway projects.With twelve coaches instead of nine, the Sealdah Section’s local EMUs can now hold more passengers. The following were inaugurated and dedicated to the nation at Sealdah Station by the Railway Minister in attendance:
