Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) has quickly become a major force in higher education, especially in the fields of infrastructure, logistics, and transportation. With its emphasis on industry-driven approaches and employability-oriented courses for the entire transport and logistics sectors, including railways, aviation, marine engineering, highways, shipping, logistics and defence sectors, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, highlighted this. “GSV is set to emerge as the best university in India and the world, in line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision,” he said. In order to get an MBA from GSV, all recently hired Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) personnel must complete their probationary training, which is created by Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and consists of both theoretical and practical experiences in CTIs and industry. Additionally, additional courses will be established for military forces, maritime infrastructure, aviation operations, bridge and tunnel engineering, and highway engineering.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Chancellor of the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, presided over the organization’s first court hearing today at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. Top government and industry leaders were present, including Satish Kumar (Chairman & CEO, Railway Board), V Uma Shankar (Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways), Amardeep Singh Bhatia (Secretary, DPIIT), Lt. Gen. NR Raja Subramani, Vice-Chief of Army Staff, Sunil Mathur (MD & CEO, Siemens India), Olivier Loison (MD, Alstom India), Jaya Jagadish (MD, AMD India), Sushil Kumar Singh (Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority), Prof. Manoj Choudhary (Vice-Chancellor, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.
On December 6, 2022, Prof. Manoj Choudhary, the founding vice-chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, gave a comprehensive update on the university’s progress and current state. Every member wholeheartedly commended GSV’s enormous advancements and success in such a short period of time, especially its industry-driven and innovation-led approach, focus, and outcomes that laid the groundwork for a world-class university. For future programs in highway engineering, ports infrastructure, artificial intelligence, the best possible combination of civil-defense infrastructure, digitisation and IOT infrastructure in manufacturing, green hydrogen and ports modernisation, defence sector logistics and supply chain, partnering with national academies in the infrastructure sectors, serving as a nodal point to other universities/institutions, infrastructure project management, etc., members of the Court provided a number of recommendations and cooperative inputs. It was also decided to present the university’s annual reports and accounts to the parliament.
In 2022, an Act of Parliament created Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara as a Central University with the goal of producing top-tier talent and people for the transportation and logistics industries as a whole. The Government of India’s Ministry of Railways sponsors this Central University, which is required to operate in the fields of railroads, shipping, ports, highways, roads, waterways, and aviation, among others. The GSV will establish a resource pool of professionals in technology, economics, management, and policy through multidisciplinary teaching (bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees), executive training, and research, all while adhering to a demand-driven curriculum and utilising the cutting-edge infrastructure of all Indian Railways’ Centralised Training Institutes. Additionally, GSV will train serving officers and probationers for Indian Railways.
