Greetings from the President of India on Gandhi Jayanti

In her message on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, stated.”On behalf of every citizen, I humbly honour Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, on the occasion of his 155th birthday.

An inspiring example of truth and nonviolence, Bapu’s life offers a special lesson to all of humanity. He gave us motivation to pursue a peaceful and cooperative course. Gandhiji persistently promoted women’s empowerment and took up the causes of eliminating untouchability, illiteracy, poor sanitation, and other social ills.

Gandhiji advocated for moral behaviour grounded in ethics and embodied timeless moral precepts. His battle was to fortify those who were most defenceless and helpless. Gandhiji’s principles found their way into the practices of numerous notable figures across the globe who were impacted by his beliefs.

In the spirit of the India of Gandhiji’s ideals, let us make a commitment to uphold the principles of truth, non-violence, love, and purity on this auspicious occasion and work tirelessly to further the nation’s and society’s ongoing progress.
