Regarding IFFI and WAVES events, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, met today with academic leaders, including principals of schools and colleges, as well as industry officials from production companies, studios, and AVGC stakeholders.
According to the secretary, the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will be held in the nation’s capital in February 2025 with the goal of making India a global net exporter of content and showcasing India’s soft power. He spoke to the media following the conference and discussed several significant facets of this year’s IFFI.
He emphasised that the focus would be on youth and that four movie icons, including Raj Kapoor and MHD Rafi, would have their centennials celebrated. Additionally, he announced IFFI-iesta, a celebration that will include live activities and entertainment zones.
The secretary also mentioned that an OTT will be introduced during IFFI, which will be advertised by the ministry featuring films by independent and small filmmakers as well as archival material, such as images and videos.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, representatives of the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association, Tejraj Parab of nCore Games, Munjal Shroff of Graphiti Studios, and others attended the conference.
The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association has created a special platform to honour cinema at this year’s IFFI. A three-story yacht in the Mondovi River will host press conferences, the premiere of movie posters and trailers, and other events close to the film festival’s main location.
