Tech company joins hands with NGO to empower children

Commendable work is being done to empower children from marginalised sections across the nation. The joint effort of Newgen Software Technologies Limited and NGO KHUSHII is worth mentioning in this regard.

Both the organisations have come together to provide holistic development to 800 students studying in Government Higher Secondary School in Nandambakkam in Chennai through a programme.

Under the programme, teachers in Spoken English, English language and Social Science will be provided to the school as resources who will work towards strengthening the basics of the students.

A certified counsellor will also be provided to the school who will give counselling support to the students. And, extracurricular activities and events will be organized at the school that will help enhance abilities of the students. 

Resources will be channelised under this programme to train teachers and also monthly maintenance of sanitation facilities will be undertaken. All this is expected to improve learning experience for children at the school.
The partnership will address the challenges of low Pupil-Teacher Ratio, low learning levels and drop-out in the intervention school. A stakeholder workshop was also organized in the school to discuss the objective and vision of the programme.

Stakeholders were  headmaster and teachers of the school, representatives from Newgen and the partner NGO. Moving forward, these stakeholders will play a very crucial role in executing the programme and capturing the impact.

Priyadarshini Nigam, Head (CSR), Newgen Software said they believe education is essential for a bright future at their organisation.

Aanchal Singh, executive director of KHUSHII said the partnership of both the organisations is very strategic, as it will enable a transformational journey for 800 children in the school resulting in quality education there and promising of future goals and career aspirations.
