Sri Ramana Vidyalaya, Rajapalayam students’ science field trip at CSIR-SERC

As part of a three-day scientific field trip, a group of 100 students and 14 instructors from Sri Ramana Vidyalaya, Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar District, travelled to Chennai today, December 5, 2024, to visit the CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC). Originating from remote communities, the students acquired practical experience and knowledge of the institution’s many research initiatives.
Under the direction of Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director of CSIR-SERC, this event was planned to inspire students to be inventive, creative, and successful by engaging in science-related events and activities. The event was addressed by Dr. Parivallal, Principal Scientist and Advisor (Management). Senior Principal Scientist Dr. S. Maheswaran discussed the CSIR-Jigyasa initiative, which encourages schoolchildren to pursue science and research. He emphasised the advantages of taking part in these programs and how they may improve their scientific thinking and research.
Several CSIR-SERC scientists and officers, including R.D. Sathish Kumar, Dr. S. Sundar Kumar, A.K. Farvaze Ahmed, and E. Ashokkumar, organised the event. The pupils said they were thankful for the chance and that it piqued their curiosity about science and research. The Galileo Science Club and Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, State Coordinator Mr. Kannabiran, organised the Science Exposure Visit.
