The Chennai Trade Center Filled With Math Vibes

Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam was the hub of activity on November 24 when the competition hosted for kids tried to bring out the best in them.

The 19th international abacus and mental arithmetic competition organised by SIP academy India offered the youngs minds an ideal platform to show their talent.

The environment was enthusiastic as over 4000 participants across the globe vied with each other to emerge winners. Those who took part in the contest were from were from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Tanzania, UAE, Bahrain, India, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.

Participants left no stone unturned in their attempts to perform well in the contest. Mant were still struggling in their last minute preparations.
which showed interest and the spirit of winning in each one present there. The things were not easy as the contest was split into two parts.

Initially, the participants were given five minutes to solve 200 mathematical problems using abacus.

The second round was even more tougher as it tested the concentration ability of the participants. Music was played in high volume and students had to retain their concentration and accomplish their tasks amidst highly disturbing environment.

But that did not leave the young minds deterred. Mr. Dinesh Victor, managing director, SIP academy India said they were happy to see the growth of the response of this competition each year.

Its not just a math  program, it also develops skills like concentration, visual memory, numerical ability, listening skills and thereby gives immense confidence to a child, he said.
 
‘This is what made us introduce the concentration round this year. I appreciate all the participants from in and around our country and we are grateful for your presence and participation. All the participants are warriors.’
