International Conference on Mathematical Computer Engineering (ICMCE 2018) at VIT

Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai, recently conducted an International Conference on Mathematical Computer Engineering or ICMCE 2018. It is a two-day affair and was inaugurated last November 23, Friday. The inaugural function was presided by Mr. Sankar Viswanathan, Vice President, VIT Chennai. Dr. Kalyani Desikan, Convenor of ICMCE 2018 welcomed the gathering.
The chief guest for the inaugural function was Mr. Mahesh Rajaraman, Senior President, and Country Head, Risk Management, YES Bank, Chennai. In his address, he stressed the importance of Mathematics and Statistics in Risk Management and Data Analytics. He also emphasized the importance of communication skills and emotional intelligence for students entering the corporate world.
Ms. Kadhambari S. Viswanathan, Assistant Vice President, VIT Chennai in her address spoke about the role that Indian mathematicians have played since the time of Aryabhatta. Dr. V.S. Kanchana Bhaaskaran, Dean Academics, VIT Chennai, in her brief address had highlighted the inter-twining of Mathematics and Computer Engineering and Dr. Indra Rajasingh, Convenor of ICMCE 2018 spoke about the dynamics of the conference while Dr. C. Vijayalakshmi, Co-Convenor of ICMCE 2018 proposed the vote of thanks.
The international speakers at the conference include Dr. Paul Manual of Kuwait University, Kuwait, Dr. Ali Iranmanesh, Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, Dr. Saeid Alikhani of Yazd University, Iran, Dr. Chia Gek Ling of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia, Dr. Bruce W. Watson, Stellenbosch University, South Africa and Dr. Rinovia Simanjuntak of Institut Teknologi, Indonesia.
And the speakers from India include Dr. Aparna Renjith, St. Xavier’s College for Women, Kerala, Dr. N. Sadagopan, IITDM Chennai, Dr. N. Bhalaji, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai and Dr. Sanjit Das, VIT Chennai.
An international workshop in Optimization Algorithms, Graph Theory and Geometrical Flows in Modern Computing is also organized as a part of the conference. Over 250 research papers are being presented by participants from all over India. This interdisciplinary conference has given a platform for young and experienced researchers from abroad and India to share their knowledge and expertise.
