KAZIND -2024: INDIA-KAZAKHSTAN JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE BEGINS IN AULI

Today marked the start of the eighth iteration of the India-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise, or KAZIND-2024, at the Surya Foreign Training Node in Auli, Uttarakhand. The drill is planned to take place in 2024 between September 30 and October 13. Since 2016, Joint Exercise KAZIND-2024 has been conducted yearly. The most recent Joint Exercise was conducted at Otar, Kazakhstan, from October 30, 2023, to November 11, 2023.
A battalion of the KUMAON Regiment of the Indian Army, along with other arms and services and soldiers from the Indian Air Force, are representing the 120-strong Indian Armed Forces. The Land Forces and Airborne Assault Troops men will make up the majority of Kazakhstan’s force.
The Joint Exercise aims to increase both sides’ combined military capability to conduct counterterrorism operations in a non-conventional setting in accordance with Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The Joint Exercise will concentrate on operations in mountainous and semi-urban areas. High levels of physical fitness, practicing and perfecting drills for tactical operations, and exchanging best practices are the goals to be met by the Joint Exercise.
The Joint Exercise will involve a variety of tactical exercises, such as practicing how to respond jointly in the event of a terrorist attack, setting up a Joint Command Post, an Intelligence and Surveillance Centre, securing helipads and landing sites, combat free fall, Special Heliborne Operations, cordon and search operations and using drones and counter-drone systems, among other things.
Both sides will be able to exchange best practices for joint operations tactics, techniques, and procedures during Joint Exercise KAZIND-2024. It will help the two militaries’ mutual understanding, comradery, and interoperability to grow. The two friendly countries’ bilateral relations will be further strengthened by the Joint Exercise, which will also improve defence cooperation.
