All the soldiers, non-commissioned officers, junior commissioned officers working in Indian Army have a happy news, they can come to Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai now.

For that is where they get trained before they become commissioned officers in Indian Army.

Young Leaders Training Wing (YTW) is the place that will acquaint soldiers of Indian Army with skills that are required for turning them into commissioned officers.

The best part of it is that YTW began its innings today after being inagurated by Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on September 23. Fine point is that this wing was established in a record time of four months.

Another happy news is the first batch of 200 people have already been selected to undergo training at YTW.

There are lot of non-commissioned officers, junior commissioned officers in Indian Army who have the potential to turn into officers, all that is needed is providing these people with  training into skills that are required to become commissioned officers.

YTW aims to provide the skillset that will help these soldiers realise their dream, he said. There are nations where their citizens who wish to become officers must become soldiers first and train hard and prove their mettle.

However Indian Army had a different tradition which it inherited from the British. Officers and soldiers are recruited and trained seperately. In future we hope a new kind of leadership emerges which has come from rank and file of the army.

The future battle will be affected by cyber warfare and army personnel have to aptly respond to the situation and emerge victorous, leadership plays a crucial role in bringing victory, he said. Chief of Army Staff presented YTW banner to Lieutenant General Sanjeev Kanal, commandant, OTA.
