The third meeting of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) between Tanzania and India took place in Goa on November 26, 2024. Expanding training collaborations and service-to-service, marine, and military sector cooperation were among the many themes discussed by the two parties. Additionally, they examined the progress of the decisions reached at the previous JDCCs and explored novel approaches to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.
Senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces were part of the Indian delegation, which was chaired by Joint Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad. Shri Bishwadip Dey, India’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, was also present during the meeting. Land Forces Commander Maj Gen Fadhil Omary Nondo led the Tanzanian mission.
In order to have a firsthand understanding of India’s capabilities in shipbuilding and port development, the Tanzanian team will visit Goa Shipyard Ltd. as part of the tour. The delegation will also travel to Goa to see the National Institute of Hydrography and INS Hansa.
Strong capacity building and opportunities for partnership development support India and Tanzania’s tight, cordial, and friendly ties. The defence cooperation between the two nations is outlined in a five-year framework.
