The Royal Bhutan Army’s Chief Operations Officer visits the Defense Minister in New Delhi

In keeping with the “Neighbourhood First” strategy, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reiterates India’s willingness to strengthen bilateral ties

During his visit to New Delhi on Monday, Lt Gen Batoo Tshering, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA), spoke with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh about a range of bilateral relations topics.

The defence minister reiterated during the discussions that India is willing to assist Bhutan in strengthening its defence preparedness capabilities, including by providing defence assets and equipment to increase Bhutan’s capabilities in accordance with its national priorities and the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.

Lt Gen Batoo Tshering, on his part, commended India for helping Bhutan improve its modern defense capabilities and RBA training, and he expressed gratitude for the Government of India’s ongoing support. Additionally, he reiterated the RBA’s unwavering dedication to collaborating closely with India to achieve the region’s common goal of peace and development.

From February 02–05, 2025, COO, RBA will be in India on an official visit. The visit has given the two sides the chance to strengthen their bilateral defense and security ties and is a part of ongoing high-level interactions between them.
