On November 8, the biennial Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) will begin its second edition in New Delhi. Think tanks, corporations, public and private sector initiatives, non-profits, academicians, and research scholars with an interest in India’s national security, foreign policy, military history, and military heritage are among the groups that the two-day event seeks to engage. This year, the three Service Chiefs and Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan will launch the celebration.

Project “Shaurya Gatha” will also be launched at the festival’s commencement. The project, which is a collaboration between the USI of India and the Department of Military Affairs, intends to preserve and advance India’s military legacy via tourism and education.

Among the notable publications on military subjects will be the following: Dr. Mrinmayee Bhushan’s Silent Weapons, Deadly Secrets: Unveiling the Bioweapons Arms Race, edited by Lt Gen Vinod Khandare (Retd), Principal Advisor MOD; Valour and Honour, a joint publication of the Indian Army and USI of India; and Because of This: A History of the Indo-Pak Air War December 1971 by Air Mshl Vikram Singh (Retd).

The defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will showcase its accomplishments and journey in advancing defence research breakthroughs to support Atmanirbhar Bharat this year through a photo exhibition.

Younger people will be encouraged to think about a career in the military by the involvement of NCC Cadets and students from schools and colleges in the Delhi NCR region. The three Services’ informative booths will highlight their functions and the range of options accessible to young people with aspirations.

The Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Department of Tourism Ladakh, Department of Defence, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Ministry of Culture, and British High Commission are all supporting this year’s festival. The official website, indianmilitaryheritagefestival.in, has further information.

Through performances by military bands from the three Services and a variety of exhibitions showcasing the many facets and initiatives of the Indian armed forces, the first IMHF took place on October 21–22, 2023, at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
