Bharat Mata Ki Jai cheers erupted as the Indian Air Force-UWM historic car procession landed in Srinagar. The inaugural IAF Car Rally is taking place in mid-November, covering 7000 km from Siachen Air Base Thoise to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, with a grand finale in Delhi. India’s main highways are traversed by senior air warriors in fifteen Jimnys.
The 4×4 Jimnys on the route are also being driven by two female army officers who are well-known climbers; one of them has climbed Mount Everest. Lt Governor Brig (r) B D Mishra and hundreds of Ladakhi youth gave them a turbulent send-off in Leh, and top dignitaries are expected to give them a similarly spectacular send-off in Srinagar.
Along with Mr. Tarun Vijay, Chairman of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, Air Commodore Prabhat Malik, the station commander of Srinagar Air Base, welcomed the Air Warriors. Renowned adventurer Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt is leading the rally. The rally’s objectives are to inspire young people to enlist in the Indian Army, to recognise and value the force’s many accomplishments, to instill a sense of respect and love for the military, and to live a warrior’s life as an Indian soldier. Sada Vijeta Vayu Veer, Sada Vijeta Bharat is the rally’s Hindi slogan. India’s Ever Victorious—the IAF’s Ever Invincible.
